How Validation Works

Credit card numbers use the Luhn algorithm (mod 10) for basic validation. The last digit is a check digit that makes the number pass the algorithm. These generated cards pass Luhn validation but are not real cards.

Card Formats

  • Visa: Starts with 4, 16 digits, 3-digit CVV
  • Mastercard: Starts with 51-55, 16 digits
  • Amex: Starts with 34/37, 15 digits, 4-digit CVV
  • Discover: Starts with 6011/65, 16 digits
